I’ve attended many courses in many IT aspects during my 8 years of work but I found Sherman one of the best instructors in terms of:

Designing concepts.

Experience that up to date in Adobe products.

How to deal with students that have several levels of knowledge in the same class.

I wish him and all Sapura team the best. They really show us the clear meaning of lovely people with noticeable gentle attitude.

It was nice days I spent in Singapore coming from Yemen to meet good people one of them was my best teacher I met Sherman who thought me rich information in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, he was really professional in teaching & he used smart way to deliver his great skills to me & my colleagues, beside that he is great graphic designer with my best wishes to him.

Practicality comes into important play

Initially, I could not differentiate between PS and AI and Sherman went on a great deal and showed us the differences and the works he had done in the past. That gave me more confidence right from the start. He injected both professionalism and humour his tutorials and applied practical use of AI into our daily work.

I was especially engrossed in the topic where he explained the purpose of the colour wheel and examples on how the colours in certain ads complement each other. That totally swept me off my feet, I have never thought of the deeper meanings of the colours than what it is.

And that is how practicality comes into important play.”

An avid blogger, Eunice Tan, created her own header banner for her personal blog, EuniqEun.

Here’s the background behind the design.

What software did you use?

I ultilised Adobe Illustrator CS4 for this small project as I was excited to execute my learnings into somewhere close to my heart.

What were your thoughts while designing it, meaning, why were they designed as such?

When I started out blogging 6 years ago, it was meant for my sis to be updated with my happenings back in Singapore. However, I got hooked to it till today.

Often or not, I surfed for blog templates designed by strangers. It wasnt a true reflection of myself. Hence, I decided its time to ‘personalised’ my blog with an illustration of myself.

On the right of the banner, there is a reflection on the left the actual illustration of myself in a lighter opacity. The name denotes me with the door at the background; door to my life.

A web banner to welcome all to my “web house”, hence the chandelier suspended from the ceiling. Feedback I got was.. “This one gives a fresher look!”, “..nice.. very personalised”, exactly wot I wanted!
